- SONIC DEVELOPMENTS - CONVERTERS PACK - C64 to IFF DOCS BY POD
- -------------------------------------------------------------
-
- After many hours of hacking away at my old C64 I have managed
- to successfully port many of the greatest 64 pictures of all
- time. You can see the results in the Sonic Developments disk
- "64 Picture Show" (In the PD-Soft library Disk No.876).
-
- Porting KOALAPAD Format Pictures
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- To get the pictures to KP format I used my trusty old Expert
- Cartridge. As far as I know, these are not available any more
- so beg, borrow or steal one if you can! Of course, if you are
- lucky enough to own a Koala Pad then you will not need to use
- an Expert Cartridge, but you will not be able to grab screens
- from games or demos.
-
- Freeze the screen you want to convert with the cartridge and
- save it to disk. Give the picture a suitable name, and make
- sure it is in KP format!
-
- I used the lead and transfer software from the 64 Emulator 2
- by Readysoft to transfer the picture files. I know there are
- other products that will enable you to transfer files (such
- as Access or the PD A64 Emulator), or you could attempt to
- build your own leads (if you're a genius and very brave).
-
- Once you have the picture files on an Amiga disk, you can
- use the 64ConvKoalaIFF program on this disk to convert from
- KP to IFF format.
-
- Check out the screens in Deluxe Paint. I found that sometimes
- the background colour was converted wrongly, so alter it
- yourself using DPaint's pallette.
-
- Once the picture is in IFF format, try smoothing it in a
- package such as Photon or Digi Paint. The results can be
- quite startling!
-
- Converting Doodle Pictures
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Doodle is a very old art package on the 64 (I think it was
- by Audiogenic). There is a files on this disk called
- 64CONVDOODLEIFF which works in the same way as the KP file.
- This program does not show up on the menu!
-
- I haven't got any Doodle files to test it out on, but I
- added it to the disk at the last minute for any Doodle fans
- out there (yes, all three of you).
